A vehicle that is slipping, shifting hard, leaking fluid, or making strange noises can have several possible causes. That is why we diagnose the problem before recommending a major repair. And our diagnosis is free!

Transmission Problems? Start With a Diagnosis.

Not quite sure what is wrong with your vehicle?

That is okay. You do not have to figure it out yourself.

Some common warning signs include:

  • Transmission slipping
  • Hard or rough shifting
  • Delayed engagement
  • Grinding or whining noises
  • Transmission fluid leaks
  • Vehicle will not move
  • Transmission gets stuck in one gear
  • Shaking or vibration while shifting
  • Burning smell
  • Check engine light
  • Problems shifting into reverse or drive

Some of these symptoms can be caused by a transmission problem. Others can come from different parts of the drivetrain.

That is why proper diagnosis by professionals matters.

We offer FREE transmission diagnostics to help determine what is actually going on before you make a decision about repairs.

No guessing. No unnecessary repairs. No pressure. Just the facts from our complimentary assessment.

Why Hernando Drivers Choose Coleman Taylor

We are not a new transmission shop trying to figure things out.

Coleman Taylor Transmissions has been serving drivers since 1961.

Our Southaven location is part of a company with decades of transmission experience. We have ASE-certified technicians, provide FREE transmission diagnostics, offer financing for qualified applicants, and accept extended warranties.

We also offer a strong warranty on qualifying transmission repairs. Ask our team about the warranty available for your particular vehicle and repair.

Most importantly, we believe you should understand what is wrong with your vehicle before you spend money on it.

That should start with a good diagnosis. And free may be your best option, Hernando!

Do I Need a New Transmission?

Not necessarily.

A transmission that is slipping, is hard to shift or a transmission noise does not automatically mean the entire transmission needs to be replaced.

The problem could be something as simple as a fluid issue, an electrical or sensor problem, or another component that is affecting how the transmission operates.

That is why we diagnose the vehicle first and explain what we find. Often customers are sent to us from a small auto repair shop or the dealer advising that they need a new transmission, and we find that just a repair is necessary.
